In a diverse region like Chesapeake Bay, celebrating Valentine’s Day means finding an activity, event or restaurant that suits your idea of romance.  There are plenty of options to choose from including a host of romantic restaurants, special Valentine’s day shows and concerts, and outdoor events for the hearty.

Wine & Chocolate Pairing on the Rivers to Canal Valentine Vino Trek, Kennedyville. MD/

From Noon to 6pm on February 10th enjoy a wine and chocolate pairing when sauntering on the River to Canal wine trail.  Participating wineries include Crow Vineyard and Winery, Broken Spoke and Chateau BuDe. 

Valentines Craft Beer & Food Pairing, Annapolis

Starting on Valentines Day (Thursday the 14th) and lasting through the weekend Chesapeake Brewing Company will offer a $99 couple dinner featuring oysters, shrimp, lobster and great craft beer. 

Walkersville Southern Railroad Sweetheart Special Dinner Train

Enjoy a four-course meal with exceptional service in a unique and exceptional setting.  The Walkersville Southern Railroad is offering this meal aboard a restored 1920s-era dining car.  The train departs on February 9th, 10th, 16 th, and17 th, from the Walkersville train station at 6pm.  The train ride with Sweetheart dinner, lasts for two hours.  Passengers are encouraged to bring beer or wine to accompany their meal. 

Capital Wheel Observation Deck, National Harbor

A bit of Paris themed Valentines Day?  Take your sweetheart to the Capital Wheel Observation Deck.  Inspired by the Roue de Paris, the Capital Wheel provides romance from the clouds.  The 180 foot observation deck will let you see your future together or maybe just the DC skyline.

Romeo & Juliet, Kennedy Center, Washington DC

What is better than seeing a performance of Romeo & Juliet on Valentine’s Day?  Starting on Valentine’s Day the Washington Ballet is performing Romeo & Juliet through February 18th. 

Chocolate Lovers Festival, Fairfax, VA

Chocolate makes the world go around and since Virginia is for lovers, it’s a great pairing.  Join Old Historic Fairfax on February 1st, 2nd and 3rd, for their Chocolate Lovers Festival.  This event is a great pre-cursor to the romantic day itself. 

Big Band Hanger Dance, Military Aviation Museum, Hampton Roads, VA

Dance away the winter blues with some poppin’ swing at the Big Band Hangar Dance!  The party is back at the Military Aviation Museum on February 9th at 5pm, with a live big band playing your favorite old time tunes against the backdrop of aviation history.  Signing and dancing is the way to celebrate Valentine’s Day just before the day itself.  

Visit the Kissing Bridges, Blue Ridge Highlands and Shenandoah Valley

Virginia's Covered Bridges - also known as "kissing bridges" have been preserved as landmarks.  The Blue Ridge Highlands and Shenandoah Valley both have covered bridges that are for public visiting.  Pearisburg and Woolwine, both located in the Blue Ridge Highlands, is home to Sinking Creek Bridge and Jack's Creek Covered Bridge.  In the Shenandoah Valley, Meems Bottom Bridge is located in Mount Jackson and Covington is home to Humpback Bridge, Virginia's oldest covered bridge.
